It
is 3 km west of Kathmandu city and is located
on a small hill about 77 m above the level
of the Kathmandu valley and therefore gives
an a-one view of the valley. The glorious
stupa of swayambhu-nath is said to be 2,000
years old and was listed in the UNESCO World
Heritage Sites' List in 1979. As a huge
number of monkeys are seen in the premises
of the spua, visitors often call it "Monkey
Temple. |

The
main structure brick and clay which supports
a lofty conical spire capped by a pinnacle
of copper gilt. There are the all-seeing
eyes of Lord Buddha on the four sides of
spire. Aside, in front of the temple, one
of the famous goddess with the shrine of
Ajima called "Harati Mata" is
there. |

Also
called as Janmadyo, the temple of Machchhendranath
lies in the downtown of the Kathmandu city.
It is a famous pagoda decorated with beautiful
artistic work. |
Akash
Bhairav Temple: |
| It is a three-story temple situated in Indra Chowk, the main market-avenue of the Kathmandu city.The main image of Akash Bhairav is displayed outside for a week during Indra Jatra, the festival of Indra, the God of Rain. |

as a World Heritage Site in 1979, Kathmandu
Durbar Square carries a glorious history
of the Nepalese Royalty. It is situated
east of Thamel, the most tourisc place of
Kathmandu and is about 10 to 15 minutes
from there. It is here that kings of Nepal
are crowned and their coronations solomnized.

Bhadrakali

| It is very popular among Hindus and in the wedding season you may see wedding of the Hindu peoples there. It is at the eastern edge of the Tundikhel, near Shahid Gate (Martyr's Memorial Gate). It is one of the main "Shakta" temples of Kathmandu city and is also known as Lumarhi temple. |

Budhanilkantha: |
It
is about 8 km north of Kathmandu city. Situated
at the base of Shivapuri hill, Budhanilkantha
is an immense statue of Lord Vishnu, reclining
on a bed of snakes. It is one of the masterpieces
of the Lichchhavi dynasty, one of the ruling
dynasties of Nepal in the past. Other people
except Hindus are not allowed to enter the
premises of the statue. |

Balaju
Water Gardens |
| Situated
about 5 km north-west of Kathmandu, Balaju
Garden features fountains with 22 crocodile-headed
water spouts that dates back to eighteenth
century. Inside the park is a large swimming
pool. |
